Plans are underway for this years Peterborough Festival, which kick starts a two week- three weekend programme starting on Saturday 26 June with the Mayor's Parade.
The Festival celebrates all that is great about Peterborough and brings communities, groups and schools together to take part and have fun!
Last year's parade was a great success, with hundreds of people taking part in the foot procession. The Chamber was delighted that it was able to add to this by providing 11 floats, dressed by local secondary and primary schools and sponsored by local businesses.
Due to our past triumphs, the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce has been asked to provide the floats for the fourth consecutive year. But we cannot do this alone and rely on the support of our members. So how can you help?
- by providing a vehicle: such as a 3.5 tonne curtain-sided, flat-bed lorry or tipper truck;
- sponsorship of a float: £250 per float which will be used by the school to buy materials needed to dress the vehicle
So what's in it for you? It's a great PR opportunity for your company with signage on the vehicle, coverage of the parade in Your Network and Festival brochure, connections with the school and its community, and it ticks the box for your company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)!
The float theme this year is 'The Peterborough Environment'. Using the children's imagination this could represent their favourite place in the city, the community of which they live in, the past history of the city.... their ideas are endless.
Helen Bosett, Peterborough Chamber co-ordinator, commented on the organisation of the vehicle procession saying: 'The Peterborough Chamber is excited to be supporting this local event again. There is a brilliant atmosphere on the morning of the Parade from setting up, to the finish at Central Park. However we need the support of the local business community to make it happen!'
