Cambridge businesses to be represented at national business conference
A businesswoman from Cambridge has been nominated to represent the concerns of the local business community at a national business conference that will include key-note speeches from Peter Mandelson, the Rt Hon Ken Clarke QC MP and Lord Alan Sugar.

Mary Currie-Smith, Director of Insolvency Services at Begbies Traynor in Cambridge, was nominated to attend the invitation-only convention by Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce.

The event, which takes place at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in London next Thursday, will address key questions including who should businesses vote for in the forthcoming general election, how should Britain's infrastructure be rebuilt and what will happen to the economy in 2010.

John Bridge OBE, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said:
'As a proactive member of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce committee who has been based in the city for over 20 years, Mary has already proven that she shares our genuine desire to improve the environment in which local businesses operate. With this in mind, I have no doubt that she will do an excellent job of representing the fears, hopes and uncertainties that are shared by so many Cambridgeshire businesses to the very people who have the power to address them.'

Mary Currie-Smith added: 'I am honoured and delighted that the Chamber chose me as their representative at such a prestigious conference.'
