Peter Appleton

CEO, Vivacity Culture & Leisure Trust

Vivacity is a Peterborough based charity established in 2010 that operates a range of major cultural and leisure facilities around the city.

Peter joined Vivacity in July 2018 bringing extensive senior management and leadership experience at both strategic and operational delivery level having worked in numerous public, private and third sector organisations providing executive management support across the UK.

Peter has also worked on both UK City of Culture projects held to date; Derry-Londonderry 2013 and Hull 2017, helping to deliver and facilitate regeneration through high-profile cultural programmes and projects in both cities. Throughout his career he has been responsible for delivering a wide range of nationally acclaimed projects and programmes providing high quality and community orientated cultural and leisure opportunities.

Peter said ‘its clear that Vivacity provides a great range of services and has some fantastic staff and wonderful volunteers, so it’s exciting to be part of that. However, we are on a challenging journey of transformation working towards increased financial independence and sustainability, we can only continue delivering great services if we change our focus and the way we do things and become more commercial – that’s the thing that excites me – bringing about change for long-term gain’.
