IWD: #EachforEqual

International Women’s Day has become an annual event in the Chamber calendar which brings together 150 people from business and education to listen to inspiring and motivational speakers. In addition we include time for table top discussions and networking.

We are delighted to bring you this event again in 2020 will be held in the spectacular surroundings of Peterborough Cathedral.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The theme for 2020 – An equal world is an enabled world Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.
Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world – Let’s all be #EachforEqual.

The event will allow us to delve into issues that are central to career development of women, debate ways we can influence change, and take time to consider our own ambition, aspirations and barriers. Everyone will have the opportunity to share experiences in a supportive environment.

Registration is from 9.30am with tea/coffee and time to network. The formal part commences at 10.00am concluding at 12.30pm with a buffet lunch.

Everyone in the workplace is welcome regardless of gender and age – colleague, apprentice, trainee, graduate…no one is excluded!

Book your place now to avoid disappointment as places expect to sell out fast!

There is the opportunity to be a main sponsor of the event or sponsor places for young people – contact Helen Bosett at the Chamber for more details.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER Claire Lomas MBE
Claire was left paralysed from a freak accident but has not let this stop her then active life.  She completed the London Marathon in 2012 in a pioneering robotic suit which took 17 days to complete and since then has competed in other marathons smashing her PB in 2018.  She has become the first paralysed female in the UK to receive her motorbike race licence and continues to fundraise for helping to find a cure to paralysis.

Claire will speak of her life changing journey, the highs and lows, achievements and challenges, leaving the audience totally inspired and believing in themselves!

We look forward to welcoming her to this special event.
