Azerbaijan Trade Mission

30 September 2026 - 2 October 2026

Explore New Opportunities in Azerbaijan: UK Trade Mission Preview

The Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce an upcoming UK trade mission to Azerbaijan taking place from 30 September to 2 October 2026 – offering UK businesses a unique opportunity to explore one of the most strategically positioned and rapidly evolving markets connecting Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

Positioned along the modern “Middle Corridor” trade route across the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan is becoming an increasingly important commercial gateway between China and Europe. Backed by significant sovereign wealth resources and an ambitious economic diversification strategy, the country is actively seeking international partnerships across high-growth sectors including ICT, cyber security, and defence.

Led by the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, the mission will provide UK businesses with direct access to senior government stakeholders, private sector leaders, and industry decision-makers. A high-level reception hosted at the Ambassador’s Residence will bring together influential representatives from the ICT, Security, and Defence sectors, alongside tailored bilateral meetings designed around the specific interests and capabilities of participating companies.

As part of the programme, participating companies will also attend and take part in a major defence exhibition in Azerbaijan, providing direct exposure to defence procurement stakeholders, industry leaders, government representatives, and potential commercial partners from across the region. The exhibition will offer an important platform for UK companies to showcase capabilities, build relationships, and explore emerging opportunities within Azerbaijan’s growing defence and security market.

Why Azerbaijan?

  • GDP reached approximately $77 billion in 2025, with strong economic diversification priorities
  • Strategic access to regional markets through Free Trade Agreements reaching over 86 million consumers
  • Over $43 billion in sovereign wealth fund assets supporting long-term investment and infrastructure development
  • The UK remains Azerbaijan’s largest single foreign investor over the last three decades
  • Around 300 UK companies already operate successfully in Azerbaijan

Key Opportunities for UK Businesses

ICT & Digital Transformation

Azerbaijan has identified ICT as one of its priority sectors for economic diversification and modernisation. Demand is growing rapidly for:

  • Digital transformation solutions
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications
  • Cyber security technologies
  • EdTech, AdTech, and M-Commerce solutions
  • Advanced data analytics and broadband technologies

Azerbaijani organisations are actively seeking international technology partners capable of delivering innovative, competitively priced solutions that complement local capabilities.

Cyber Security

Cyber security sits at the heart of Azerbaijan’s national development strategy through 2030. The government has committed substantial investment toward:

  • National cyber security infrastructure
  • Critical infrastructure protection
  • Cyber intelligence and incident investigation
  • Malware and digital forensics laboratories
  • AI-enabled cyber solutions

With planned government spending estimated at approximately £20 million over the coming years, UK expertise in risk assessment, penetration testing, AI, and cyber resilience is well positioned to compete in this growing market.

Defence & Security

The UK–Azerbaijan defence relationship is entering a new phase of expansion. Following the lifting of UK restrictions on defence sales to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence in Autumn 2025, opportunities for UK defence and security companies are increasing significantly.

With a defence budget of approximately £3 billion and growing interest in long-term industrial partnerships, Azerbaijan is actively engaging with UK suppliers and technology providers. The market places strong value on trusted relationships, in-country engagement, and long-term collaboration — making participation in this mission and defence exhibition particularly valuable.

What to Expect

Participating companies will benefit from:

  • Participation in a leading defence exhibition in Azerbaijan
  • Tailored B2B and government meetings
  • Networking opportunities with Azerbaijani stakeholders
  • Market briefings and sector insights
  • Access to key ICT, cyber security, and defence contacts
  • A reception at the Ambassador’s Residence with senior industry representatives
