Stamford businesses to get the inside track from the Bank of England

Tuesday 9 February 2016

Businesses in Stamford will discover the truth behind the Bank of England's decision to leave interest rates unchanged at 0.5% for an 83rd consecutive month at a special event being held at The George Hotel later this month.

Pam Wright, Deputy Agent for the East Midlands at the Bank of England, is visiting the town to offer a unique insight into the UK's economic landscape.

In a presentation to local business owners and directors she will examine the evidence shaping the Monetary Policy Committee’s next economic forecast, which will be released just before the event, providing a timely opportunity for business leaders to discover the facts behind the figures.

Richard Olsen, Chairman of Stamford Chamber of Commerce, said:
“We are delighted to be welcoming Pam Wright back to Stamford to provide her valued perspective to the town’s businesses. This is an ideal opportunity for business leaders to understand how the bank expects the economy to perform over the coming months and enable their future investment plans to be shaped accordingly. In Pam’s overview last year, she gave a very accurate forecast of the economy and what would happen, let’s see what the next 12 months have in store.”

Sponsored by Buckles solicitors and Handelsbanken, the evening event will also include opportunities for networking with other members of the business community over buffet refreshments.
