Devolution – “Real Deal or Raw Deal”

The Chamber responds to the proposed tri-county devolution deal for Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce has joined key business organisations in rejecting the latest proposals tabled by the government as part of plans for devolution which would have seen the county share a regional mayor with Norfolk and Suffolk.

John Bridge OBE DL, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said: "We are really concerned that the Government is intending to bulldoze through the wrong devolution solution for political expediency regardless of the ultimate negative economic consequences for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

“That is why we have joined with the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership and other key business organisations where we fully support the details within their press releases.”
