Chamber reaction to the approval of the A14 upgrade

Wednesday 11 May 2016

The Chamber has reacted to the news that the £1.8billion upgrade project for the A14 in Cambridgeshire has been approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin.

John Bridge OBE DL, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said:
“We are delighted that the Department for Transport has at last understood the real necessity for improvements to this economically vital route, and has given the go ahead for its upgrade. We will however keep our celebrations on ice until the work actually starts.

“This announcement has been long-awaited but it’s merely another step in a very long process and the proof of the pudding will come when everything is in place for its implementation. We very much hope that everyone will back this very essential upgrade and that there will be no further issues or difficulties to delay or prevent it in any way.”
