Export Training Course dates announced

The Chambers' summer export training course schedule has been released.

Details have been announced of a series of Export Training Courses, taking place at the Chambers' Cambridge office.

Covering topics including incoterms, letters of credit, import issues and changes to Customs procedures, these full-day export courses offer training to ensure that you are ready to increase and improve your techniques and you will receive detailed notes to takeaway to build up a toolkit of reference information. Whether buying or selling, let us help you to trade more cost effectively.

Export Procedures and Documentation
Tuesday 16 May, 9.00am-5.00pm

This one-day course provides an in-depth exploration into the procedures and documentation you will need to be aware of if your business is to make a success of exporting.
The new Customs Law, the Union Customs Code, and how this affects EU trade and exports out of the EU will be looked at.

Incoterms and Export Licence Controls
Tuesday 23 May, 9.00am-5.00pm

This is your opportunity to understand fully the comprehensive aspects of international commercial terms ‘Incoterms’. You will be guided through each of the Incoterms, explaining the costs involved, who should meet these costs, the transfer of risk points and we’ll clarify the issue of insurance.
The roles of BIS (Business Innovation & Skills) and their SPIRE system will also be explained.

Finance Options: Focusing on Letters of Credit
Tuesday 20 June, 9.00am-5.00pm

Getting paid is a vital part of the sales transaction, so join us on this one-day course to explore the options and reduce the costs involved in receiving payment. You will learn why, when and how to use Documentary Letters of Credit (L/cs). This masterclass will guide you through the complexities of L/c rules and regulations (UCP600) so you can be proactive in instructing your customer to encourage L/c clauses that work for you.

Import: Compliance and Savings
Tuesday 11 July, 9.00am-5.00pm

Join us to understand the rules and intricacies of goods crossing borders. We’ll cover when import duties and taxes are applicable, and look at ways to reduce or even abolish these charges. Together we’ll view the Tariff and comprehend how to classify your goods. You will also learn about Customs Procedure Codes and the rules of valuation and understand how to read your import entries to ensure you will pass customs compliance audits. Different customs regimes to be considered will also be looked at.

Customs Special Procedures: Focusing on Inward Processing (IP) and Outward Processing (OP)
Tuesday 25 July, 9.00am-5.00pm

This course looks at the roles of processing in order to identify if you could trade more competitively.
With IP, you could benefit from duty being relieved on imports of non-EU goods, which are to be processed in the community before being put to an eligible disposal while with OP we willl explain how you are allowed to claim relief from customs duty on the EU goods which have been exported for process.

Rules of Origin: Preference and Non-preference
Tuesday 1 August, 9.00am-5.00pm

Let us explain the complex subject of origin which is essential to understand as the country in which a product is made can affect the import duty that is applicable. During this course we will examine the non-preferential rules for determining the country of origin of goods in accordance with the provisions of primary rules and residual rules. We’ll identify the preferential origin rules for your own specific products, in order to determine if they meet preference according to the relevant EU Free Trade Agreement.
