Local support success for a good cause

Tuesday 15 May 2018

Two work colleagues, Pippa Ellis, and Natasha Oliver from Beacon Wealth Management Ltd are taking on a 100km cycling challenge on the 26 May, in aid of Women v Cancer.

Women v Cancer is a charity that raises much needed funds for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Both Pippa and Natasha are doing everything they can to raise money for the charity before their event, and on Saturday 12 May they set up a bike on the St Neots Market Square and took it in turns to cycle an hour each whilst shaking their collection tins and selling raffle tickets.

There was cake available for a donation, and a huge raffle for which they received enormous support from the local community. They asked shops and business to donate prizes for the raffle and were overwhelmed by the support, everyone was very generous and they had fantastic prizes from: St Neots Golf Club, Days of Buckden, Olivers in Kimbolton, Bohemia St Neots, The Salon on The Green Buckden, Shakie Jakes, Citrus Rooms, Honeycomb Photography, L.A nails, Broken Spoke Cycles, Fit 4 Purpose, Molbys, Budgens in Kimbolton, Nisa in Buckden, Truffles & Twine of Kimbolton and Limelight Entertainment.

Through the sale of raffle tickets and all their fundraising efforts on the day Pippa and Natasha managed to raise £538. All proceeds will go to the Women V Cancer charity. So far between them they have raised over £1,500 and they are still collecting. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts you can sponsor them on their just giving sites before their event takes place on 26 May.

Women V Cancer was set up in 2010 to help raise awareness and put an end to women’s cancers. Funds raised by Women V Cancer will support Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. The London Night ride is one of many events arranged to raise funds for the charities, in which approximately 4,200 women will participate this year.

Pippa and Natasha commented: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the local shops and businesses that donated raffle prizes and everyone that came to support us on the day, our small fundraising event was a great success and we would not have been able to do it without the local community, we can’t thank everyone enough.”
