Experience action-packed family fun at Newmarket Racecourses’ Countryside Day

Wednesday 25 July 2018

As the warm weather continues, join Newmarket Racecourses on one of their most popular Summer Saturdays, Countryside Day taking place this Saturday, 28 July.

This family-friendly Saturday is full to the brim with rural-themed activities and a wide variety of animals to meet on course.

There will be a welly wanging competition for both children and adults, regular sheep shearing demonstrations, pony rides, a laser shot game and a mini farm for all the family to enjoy. Popular children’s TV characters Bing & Flop will also make exciting guest appearances at intervals throughout the day, to help spread fun and laughter across the course!

It wouldn’t be a Summer Saturday without an afternoon of exhilarating racing. As a family, place a bet on your favourite horse and cheer them on as they run down the track. And if that wasn’t enough, children will be able to explore the extensive play area and meet Rowley at Rowley’s Kids Club. Bounce around on a whole host of inflatables and bouncy castles, before having your face painted as your favourite farmyard animal! All entertainment-taking place in the dedicated family-friendly area, the Garden Enclosure, is free to enjoy and children under 18 enter the course for free!

Summer Saturdays on the Adnams July Course
There are a total of seven family-friendly Summer Saturdays taking place throughout the summer until the 18 August, all of which combine exciting racing and free themed on-course entertainment. Adults can explore a number of eateries and bars, while children can enjoy large play areas and a range of themed activities for all the family to enjoy.

Newmarket Racecourses is proud to support Under 18s Race Free, a campaign by Great British Racing which features a comedy series, ‘Horsing Around’ set on a racecourse and starring Britain’s Got Talent host David Walliams.

Speaking of the campaign, David Walliams said: “I really think the Under 18s Race Free campaign is great. So often kids’ days out can be expensive for the family so this could be a fun and different day out for everyone where kids go free. There are a lot of fun things children can do at the races, so it’s great to be part of a campaign to educate families.”

Newmarket Racecourses’ Rainy Day Guarantee also means that, in the event of a cumulative three hours of rain between gates opening and the final race on any Summer Saturday, those with tickets purchased online will be offered up to four free Grandstand & Paddock tickets for one of two selected racedays in August and October.
