Afternoon tea for Breast Cancer Care

Thursday 26 July 2018

On Saturday 21 July Pippa, Leigh and Lindy from Beacon Wealth Management Ltd hosted an afternoon tea event, to raise money and awareness for breast cancer care.

The event was a huge success with lots of donated cake and Robinsons of Kimbolton donating Prosecco. To raise funds the ladies charged for the afternoon tea, held a small raffle, a quiz and sold Breast Cancer Care pins, with donations from those that could not attended, they managed to raise £405 and money is still coming in.

Breast Cancer Care was founded by Betty Westgate in 1973, five years after her own diagnosis of breast cancer in 1968. Their vision: We want every person affected by breast cancer to get the best treatment, information and support. Their vision for 2020 identifies seven impact areas where they are concentrating their efforts to make lives better for people affected by breast cancer: 1) Early detection and breast awareness 2) Diagnosis and treatment 3) Moving forward 4) Secondary breast cancer 5) Younger women 6) Family history and breast cancer 7) Families and partners.

One in eight women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Almost nine in 10 women survive breast cancer for five years or more.

Pippa Ellis, commented: “We aimed to raise £200 and I’m very pleased with the generosity and kind support from people allowing us to double our goal. It was a lovely afternoon and I think we all feel very glad to be able to help such a worthwhile cause.”
