Cambridge Regional College students feature in limited edition book

Friday 2 November 2018

Art & Design students from Cambridge Regional College (CRC) have had their work featured in a new book following an exhibition held in Cambridge.

The Cambridge Printmaker’s Biennale exhibition, held at The Pitt Building in Trumpington Street, showcased the work of print making specialists studying a pre-degree UAL Diploma in Art & Design Foundation course at Cambridge Regional College.

The one-year course, held at the College’s Cambridge Campus, allows learners the space to develop, experiment and enhance their creative thinking to prepare for further study and professional development into the vast possibilities within the contemporary creative industries.

The 10 students selected pieces from their self-initiated final major project, with a focus on experimentation, exploration and evaluation. Their work covered a range of printmaking techniques, including etching, drypoint, screen, lino and mono printing, producing prints which are at the cutting edge of contemporary and experimental printmaking.

‘Limited Edition’ has been published to celebrate the exhibition, and features a dedicated page for Cambridge Regional College students. In addition, Andy McKenzie, Art & Design lecturer at CRC, who also exhibited, will have his work featured on three pages within the book.

The students were excited to share their work with visitors to the exhibition, saying they were all excited about being a part of a professional exhibition. Andy reflected on the event: “It was a great opportunity for our students to showcase their work to a wider audience within a professional context, with lots of positive comments from visitors and fellow exhibitors.”

The print exhibition is just one of the many successes the College has enjoyed this year. Art & Design students at Cambridge Regional College have also contributed to the local community by creating murals at Woodland Lodge Children’s Home in Huntingdon. They designed and installed murals for three separate areas, making a real impact on the children, staff and visitors.
