Breakfast deliveries launch Pure's accumulator fundraising challenge for Arthur Rank Hospice

Tuesday 8 January 2019

Pure's Cambridge office has kicked off its accumulator fundraising challenge for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity (ARHC) by organising a charity breakfast sale which generated 440.

ARHC's accumulator challenge tasks local businesses and community groups with turning 50 into a fortune. All the money raised will help ARHC to continue supporting people in Cambridgeshire living with a life-limiting illness and those who need end-of-life care. Each team is given 50 at the outset, courtesy of sponsors ARM. The challenge is to multiply that investment into as much money as possible through creative, original and entrepreneurial activities, between 1 October and 31 December 2018.

For the first of Pure's entrepreneurial fundraising ideas, the team invested their 50 stake to buy the ingredients needed to prepare 100 freshly made breakfast baps and jars of overnight oats. On Friday 19 October, these were distributed to local businesses around Pure's Cambridge office on Vision Park in Histon, in return for a minimum donation of 3.50.

Having now accumulated 440, the Pure team is brainstorming ideas for the next activity. Each team member will pitch their ideas and a vote will be taken on which ones to go ahead with.

David Culley, Director at Pure Cambridge, said: "We certainly have some budding 'Apprentice' contestants who are highly motivated to make this happen and to raise as much money as we can for ARHC. The challenge is a fantastic idea for fundraising and it fits really well with our company value of teamwork and our consistent aim to be a socially responsible business which supports the communities around us. Some of our team have benefitted from the support of ARHC, so we know how important it is to support this fundraising. It has really inspired and motivated everyone across the Cambridge office to get involved."

Since it began five years ago, the annual ARHC accumulator fundraising initiative has generated more than 87,000 towards patient care and has seen over 90 teams take part.

ARHC Corporate Fundraiser, Andrea Murauskas, said: "This inclusive fundraising event brings out the creative flair and competitive nature of our supporters as they battle over 12 weeks for first place. Attracting both businesses and community groups from across the region; all of whom demonstrate some truly ingenious fundraising activities."
