Waterbeach world championship athlete auctioning kit space to raise money for EACH

Monday 25 March 2019

A Waterbeach athlete who will be flying the flag for Great Britain at the Triathlon World Championships in Switzerland later this year is asking businesses to bid for a place on his kit, with the money to go to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Jonathon Clarke is 35 and will be competing in the 35-39 age category. He entered the world of triathlon just two years ago, qualifying to compete at the world championships in Cardiff last year.

Jonathon said: “Being fortunate enough to compete for Great Britain in my age group, I wanted to offer my kit sponsorship logo spaces to help raise awareness for EACH, a charity that has a hospice local to me in Milton. Hopefully, through this great opportunity, we can raise enough money to pay for a day of care and support from EACH in Cambridgeshire - £5,600.”

Emily Rose, EACH Cambridgeshire Corporate Fundraising Assistant, said: “What a fantastic opportunity this is for Cambridgeshire businesses. We feel privileged Jonathon’s giving up valuable sponsorship money to help our work caring for children and young people with life-threatening conditions, and supporting their families, and wish him all the very best in Lausanne.”

The Triathlon World Championships take place between 29 August and 1 September in Lausanne, a city on Lake Geneva that is home to the International Olympic Committee, and Jonathon will be wearing his kit throughout the competition.

Companies that would like to bid for a spot on the kit should email Jonathon at clarkejl2484@yahoo.com before Tuesday 30 April.
