Local CEO treks the Alps for Charity

Wednesday 10 April 2019

This time last year Jon Stump, Joint CEO at Mick George Ltd, completed an epic Coast to Coast Challenge in Costa Rica, testing the body and mind in an endurance trial which saw the local businessman cover more than 300km in just six days.

Despite the physical tribulations, Jon loved every minute of the encounter and has decided to return for more punishment, this time switching the climates of Central America for the Alps of southern France.

The four-day Mega-Triathlon will begin on 29 April, and will involve Kayaking, Trekking and Cycling almost 300km along a majestic but demanding route from Europe’s largest canyon, the Verdon Gorge, to the slopes of the southern Alps, before arriving at the final destination in Monaco.

Jon won’t be alone on this venture, with former England Rugby Captain Lewis Moody MBE, plus 20 others, pushing their physical and mental limits as they bid to surpass the £50,000 fundraising target.

Once again, the group will be raising money for The Lewis Moody Foundation, dedicated in helping those diagnosed with brain tumours, Britain’s biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.

The funds will be utilised through the award-winning HeadSmart campaign, funding vital research into brain tumour diagnosis, for which an estimated 20,000 children and young people in the UK are living with this life-threatening condition.

Jon Stump, Joint CEO at Mick George Ltd, commented: “If the last trip is anything to go by when the group raised over £100k, it should be quite an adventure. Opportunities to experience such stunning scenery amongst a group’ with such strong camaraderie, isn’t presented to you very often. So, to be able to participate and raise funds for an incredible cause at the same time, is just wonderful.

“Training has begun in earnest, 6am starts at the gym every morning, merely hoping that I can keep the body in one piece for another epic jaunt.”
