Cambridge law firm adds to legal team with appointment of new litigation solicitor

Tuesday 23 April 2019

Law firm Miller Sands, one of Cambridge’s oldest independent practices, has strengthened its
senior legal team with the appointment of solicitor Virginia Lloyd, who specialises in litigation.

The addition of Virginia to Miller Sands’ team of lawyers continues a trend in appointments within the firm. She is the practice’s fourth female solicitor, joining Partner Julia Hutchings, family solicitor Rebecca Varey and private client solicitor Vicky Austin. Other solicitors include Partner Will Cowell, Head of Family and Litigation, and Ryan Hawthorn, private client solicitor.

Virginia qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and her experience spans both the public and private sector specialising in general and commercial civil litigation, criminal litigation and regulatory matters.

As Miller Sands’ senior litigation solicitor, Virginia will offer services in property and contract
disputes, debt and insolvency cases, and planning, from the initial stages of dispute resolution to proceedings in the High Court or County court.

Commenting on her appointment, Virginia Lloyd said: “I am delighted to have joined the team at Mil-ler Sands offering an additional set of legal services to complement their existing capabilities. As an independent firm Miller Sands has the benefit of attracting an interesting variety of cases and the ability to build close relationships with clients.

Having worked in law for over 15 years it’s really important to me to align myself with a firm that fits with my personal values of openness, transparency and equality and I am looking forward to being a part of the firm’s ongoing growth and success.”

Julia Hutchings, a partner at Miller Sands, said: “We are thrilled that Virginia has joined us here at Miller Sands. As a senior solicitor she brings with her a wealth of experience in a wide range of
litigation matters and we are pleased to now be able to offer these services to our clients.

“As an independent and progressive law firm, it’s important to us to make sure we are continually growing and developing to meet the ever changing needs of our clients. With four female solicitors working across four key aspects of law we are changing the face of law in Cambridge and looking forward to the next step in our development.”
