Local construction industry unites for charity

Monday 29 April 2019

The fifth annual Contractors v Consultants Charity Rugby Match is scheduled for Thursday 2 May, and will once again be played at Cambridge RUFC, Grantchester Road.

The event will see representatives from the region’s property sector go head to head while raising money towards this years selected charity, Construction Youth Trust.

Construction Youth Trust work with young people to promote social mobility and diversity, encouraging them to pursue a career in the construction industry.

If you would like to contribute towards the £3,000 target set, please visit: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cvc-rugby and make a donation.

Although normally a tightly contested affair, the Consultants currently have the edge, holding a 3-1 advantage over their Contracting counterparts. Looking to buck that trend will be Garry Woodcock, Concrete Operations Manager at local business Mick George Ltd.

Garry will take his place in the Contractors team, alongside an assortment of rugby amateurs as well as first-time novices; having previously donned’ the shirt of GB Legends.

Stace is the main sponsor for the Consultants’ team, while Morgan Sindall is the main sponsor for the Contractors.

Jon Stump, Joint CEO at Mick George Ltd, commented: “We’re really pleased to be involved with the match for the fourth consecutive year, especially on this occasion as it’s supporting the Youth Construction Trust who play a vital role in inspiring and encouraging the next generation to pursue a career in construction, addressing some of the skills shortages in the industry.”
