We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.

Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health. As a society, we don't tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for support with their own mental health.

The two-day Adult Mental Health First Aid Course
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England training course teaches you to spot the signs of mental health issues, offer initial help and guide a person towards support. You won’t be a therapist, but you will learn to listen, reassure & respond to someone even in a crisis - and even stop a crisis from happening.

The Adult MHFA two-day course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider!
Mental Health First Aiders have:
- A good understanding of mental health & the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health through guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS or a mix.

The course is very popular in raising the mental health agenda in the workplace or for self-development and knowledge around mental health and wellbeing.

Trainers - Our experienced trainers have also extensive experience both clinically and in delivering training. Adelle is a public health nurse and wellbeing specialist and trustee of The Men’s Health Forum & Victoria is a mental health professional & former CEO of a mental health charity in Surrey.

Training – The days will be a mix of presentation, group discussions & group work. The training environment will be safe and confidential, and participants wellbeing is of the utmost importance. You do not have to participate if certain parts feel uncomfortable. You also get a 200+ page manual, workbook and certificate.

Cost - At The Sweet Potato Consultancy we are offering this open course on 24-25th July in Biggleswade for £250 per person for a cohort of 16 people (usual cost from MHFA £300) (excluding booking fee).
