April 7, 2025

Peterborough Cathedral is set to launch an exciting new event combining an extensive literary-themed tour with a hands-on creative writing workshop, taking place on Saturday 26th April from 11.00 – 15.00.
The day begins with a behind-the-scenes tour led by Vice Dean Canon Tim Alban-Jones, offering rare insight into the Cathedral’s rich literary history—from medieval scribes to Shakespearean inspirations you will discover the writers connected with this magnificent space.
After the tour, guests will enjoy a delicious lunch before taking part in a two-hour creative writing session in St Oswald’s Conference Centre led by writer and educator Dr Andrew McDonnell. Open to writers of all levels, the workshop will offer fresh tools, prompts, and inspiration in a quiet, peaceful setting overlooking gardens.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity not just to explore the Cathedral’s literary history, but also to create something new within its walls,” said Canon Tim Alban Jones. “We hope to welcome writers of all levels to discover, reflect, and write in a truly inspiring setting.”
