CKH celebrates social impact award

October 15, 2020

Cross Keys Homes (CKH) is celebrating a win in the Social Impact category of the Investors in the Environment Awards 2020.

The Peterborough based housing association won the award for its commitment to changing the lives of the people who live in its communities. The holistic approach taken by CKH to improving the built and natural environment as well offering opportunities and support to residents won over the judges in what was a hard fought category.

CKH has been accredited to the iiE programme for 12 years, attaining their highest level Green accreditation in 2014, and holding it ever since. By adopting the ‘One Planet Framework’ CKH continues to combine environmental improvement and carbon reduction with projects to support, educate and empower people in communities across the region. As a Community Benefit organisation, every penny of profit made by the company is put back into services and communities as well as building much needed affordable housing.

By supporting projects such as the WestRaven Community Garden and Café, CKH is empowering residents to lead the change they want. The organisation also provides training and support for people looking for work, and offers a range of activities for young people. Health and wellbeing is also a priority for the organisation, with support available to keep body and mind well.

CKH Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said: “Winning this award is fantastic recognition for the hard work our teams do every day, to help people to lead the best life they possibly can. From the resident-led WestRaven Community Garden and Café to our Be Kind Fund, that is giving residents a helping hand in these tough times, we are determined to continue to do all we can to make our communities amazing places to live.”
