It’s happy hour again and again at Peterborough recruitment firm!

According to a recent study, an alarming 62 per cent of UK employees feel they don’t belong or are worthy of their position in the workplace.

‘Imposter Syndrome’ is often described as a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has an internal fear of being exposed as a ‘fraud’ and feelings that they do not deserve their success.

It is a growing concern mostly among women and high achievers.

However, Peterborough-based Anne Corder Recruitment recently teamed up with career coach Melanie Coeshott, founder of Blue Diamond, to tackle the issue head on.

And following a successful workshop – demand has led to not one, but two more being organised at the company’s Lynch Wood offices.

Two out-of-office ‘happy hour’ events are being planned (19 September and 11 November) where business/ HR professionals were invited to listen to Melanie de-bug some of the myths around imposter syndrome, while equipping attendees with the tools to identify and recognise signs as well as provide some long-term strategies to help.

Anne Corder Recruitment partner Nel Woolcott added: “We host many workshops and events at our offices and this one was a little bit out of the ordinary.

“We decided to tag the event ‘happy hour’ to attract people to call in after their normal working day, and the topic itself was fascinating – so much so, that we have been asked to repeat the workshop. Our massive thanks to Melanie for delivering this so fantastically, giving lots of food for thought to those who attended, and we know that the same will apply to the two additional events.”
