- Finalist at the Cambridge Independent Business Awards
- Shortlisted in the category Business of the Year
- Winners at the same awards last year
Cambridgeshire’s biggest bus operator has been shortlisted as a Finalist for a prestigious local awards scheme – after it won in a different category last year.
Stagecoach East has been shortlisted in the category for Business of the Year at the Cambridge Independent Business Awards 2026. The awards aim to celebrate outstanding business achievement and the contribution that businesses make to the Cambridgeshire economy.
The judges will now make further enquiries – including a visit to Stagecoach’s depot in Cambridge – before the winners are officially announced at a Gala Event on Thursday 24th September, at the world-famous King’s College Cambridge.
Stagecoach East won the Collaboration Award, last year, because of its work on Buses and Businesses Against Abuse (BAA), a unique partnership between Stagecoach East, the Cambridgeshire Constabulary, and the Cambridge and Peterborough Rape Crisis Centre, to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls wherever Stagecoach East buses run.
Stagecoach East’s buses are officially places of refuge for people fearing that they will be subject to abuse or assault, with signage on each bus to show the fact. Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted, for the second time in two years, for such a prestigious awards scheme. This is a real testament to the hard work done by my team, and the effortless and value-for-money service we offer our customers.”
— The announcement comes during August when children, under 16, can travel for free on local buses under the government’s Great British Summer Savings Scheme. Adult Single fares are capped at just £3.
