We have responded to the government’s consultation on proposals for a new development corporation for Greater Cambridge, setting out the priorities businesses believe are essential to unlock sustainable, inclusive growth across the region.
“Greater Cambridge is one of the UK’s most important engines of innovation and productivity, and the government’s consultation on a new development corporation recognises both its extraordinary potential and the very real constraints that are holding it back.
Businesses across the region are clear: unlocking sustainable growth at the scale required will depend on coordinated infrastructure-first delivery, particularly on transport, water resilience, energy capacity, and genuinely affordable housing for the workforce our economy relies on.
A centrally led development corporation could provide the long-term certainty, pace and investment needed to address these challenges, provided it is built on strong partnership with local authorities, employers, and communities. Meaningful business engagement from the outset will be essential to ensure growth delivers good jobs, inclusive prosperity and improved quality of life across Greater Cambridge.
