The day kicks off with a networking breakfast, giving delegates the chance to meet ambitious business leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs from across the region.
Morning Panel: Leadership Driving Business Growth & Scale
The morning continues with a Business Panel featuring Olivia Seccombe of British Sugar, who will share insights on the challenges and opportunities in the food and agriculture sector, and Jason Mashinchi, Young Businessperson of the Year and Founder of Cambridge Kinetics, discussing trends in technology and innovation. The panel also includes Dr Kathryn Chapman, Executive Director of Innovate Cambridge, who will explore how the region’s science, innovation, and business communities can be best supported to succeed, alongside Professor Tim Minshall, Dr John C Taylor Professor of Innovation and Head of the Institute for Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge and author of Your Life is Manufactured, reflecting on how to translate R&D and innovative ideas into high-quality UK manufacturing while considering global competitiveness, with the session chaired by Gareth John, Policy Director at First Intuition.
Business Mindset and Scaling Success
Next, Mike Greene, entrepreneur and Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire, will reveal the mindset and strategies behind business success, drawing on his experience investing in and mentoring businesses across the UK.
Following him, Barry Tong, Founder and CEO of Sol Retail, will be interviewed live by BBC’s Louise Hulland, sharing his incredible journey from a £10 investment to building a £15 million business, offering lessons in resilience, growth, and leadership. His company also received the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2025.
Afternoon Panel: People, Culture, and Upskilling Teams
The afternoon features The Talent Lab, a lively panel hosted by Andrea Wood, Assistant Director for Skills & Employment at the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, exploring how people, culture, and leadership drive business growth and help organisations thrive in competitive markets. The panel will tackle thorny issues that can threaten workplace cohesion, with insights from Sarah Stones, TEDx speaker and motivation specialist at Plain Sailing Motivation; Katie Allen, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Coach; Kevin Doherty of CODEM Composites, focusing on rehabilitation into advanced manufacturing employment; and Sandra Wiggins, Co-Founder of Women on Boards CIC.
Sustainability, Innovation, and Developing Skills
Immediately after, Emma Fletcher, Low Carbon Housing Director at Octopus Energy, shares her journey from rural surveying to helping shape one of the UK’s most innovative tech companies. An entrepreneurial leader with a track record of delivering large-scale, commercially successful projects, she established the UK’s first fossil fuel-free district heating scheme in her village, Swaffham Prior, a project that reflects her talent for turning bold ideas into business reality.
Keynote: Leadership, High Performance, and Team Development
The conference concludes with the Keynote Address by Claire Williams OBE, former Deputy Team Principal of Williams Racing F1. Claire is one of motorsport’s most influential women, recognised for her expertise in leadership, team-building, and innovation under pressure. She will share lessons from her career at the top of Formula 1, offering delegates unique insights into creating high-performing, inclusive teams.
Closing Drinks Reception
