As part of the British Chambers of Commerce’s annual Chamber Business Awards, a Cambridge based bus operator has been chosen as the Local Economy of the Future Business of the Year.
The awards, now in their 22nd year, are one of the showpieces of the business calendar, highlighting the role of firms in delivering growth, prosperity and innovation across the UK.
The Local Economy Award, recognises a company that has either demonstrated exceptional levels of growth or exceptional levels of commitment to their local economy.
Stagecoach East, a Patron member of Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, won the award after impressing judges with the ‘creative and inspiring difference they make to their local economy.’
Part of the national Stagecoach Group, the firm operates services across Bedford, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough, employing 800 people. The firm fosters community development, helping people access work, education, health, shopping, and leisure.
Stagecoach East will pick up their award at ceremony at the London Stock Exchange on 26 November – where they will also compete for the Winner of Winners Award alongside other category champions.
