Forget World Cup fever…Peterborough has caught LEGO fever!

Uncategorised15 July 2026

Move over football.

There’s a new obsession sweeping Peterborough, and it’s arriving in brilliant shades of red, blue, yellow and green.

Over the past few days, eagle-eyed passers-by may have noticed mysterious bursts of LEGO colours appearing across the city centre. The colourful takeover is the first sign that the city is preparing to welcome Travelling Bricks, the spectacular LEGO exhibition arriving at Peterborough Cathedral on Saturday 18 July.

As excitement builds, more colourful installations will appear across the city, turning Peterborough into the perfect backdrop for what promises to be one of the biggest family attractions of the summer.

Paul Stainton, Head of Marketing and Communications at Peterborough Cathedral, said:

“Everyone’s talking about World Cup fever, but here in Peterborough we’ve got something even more colourful – LEGO fever! We wanted to create a sense of fun and curiosity that would make people stop, smile and wonder what’s happening. This is just the start. Over the coming days, families will see even more signs that the city is getting ready for an incredible summer of building, playing and discovering at the Cathedral.”

Travelling Bricks features more than 120 incredible models built from over one million LEGO bricks, alongside interactive build zones, giant soft bricks for younger children and activities throughout the summer holidays.

So, if Peterborough suddenly seems a little brighter than usual…

Don’t worry.

It’s probably just LEGO fever.
