With just one month to go until Travelling Bricks arrives at Peterborough Cathedral, the Cathedral is launching the Peterborough 20 Brick World Cup, a fun, fast-paced challenge designed to build excitement across the city ahead of one of the biggest family attractions of the summer.
The Dean of Peterborough Cathedral, the Very Reverend, Chris Dalliston will kick off the World Cup, with schools, businesses, charities, community groups, civic leaders, local personalities and the public encouraged to ‘Beat the Dean’ on social media. Competitors race against the clock to build a tower with bricks, at right angles, using just 20 LEGO® bricks. The fastest times will earn a place on the Peterborough 20 Brick World Cup leaderboard, with the eventual champion receiving their trophy on 18th July, the opening day of Travelling Bricks.
The competition forms part of a city-wide countdown to the internationally renowned touring exhibition, created from more than one million LEGO® bricks, which will transform the Cathedral into an interactive family destination where visitors can not only admire the incredible models but also build, create and play together for hours.
Featuring 120 models across 60 scenes, Travelling Bricks takes visitors on a journey through the history of transport and engineering, from the earliest inventions to modern marvels. Spread across four immersive zones, Air, Land, Sea and Space, highlights include a spectacular 7.2-metre-long Titanic, a towering 3-metre rocket, a detailed Boeing 747 and famous historic vessels including HMS Victory and SS Great Britain.
But this is far more than an exhibition to simply walk around.
Families can enjoy a huge interactive building zone featuring more than 200,000 LEGO® bricks, giving children and adults the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild and create their own masterpieces. Younger visitors can also dive into the Giant Soft Bricks Playland, where oversized building blocks provide even more opportunities for creative play.
The result is a true ‘stay-and-play’ experience, combining world-class LEGO® models with hands-on activities that encourage families to explore, build and spend quality time together minus the screens!
As an added bonus, visitors will also be able to see Titanosaur, The Natural History Museum’s awe-inspiring giant dinosaur installation on loan until 13th September. Standing watch under the Cathedral’s magnificent central tower, Titanosaur offers another unforgettable experience for families, making a visit to Peterborough Cathedral, even more rewarding.

- Children/Students: £6 (student ID required)
Entry to Titanosaur is included in your Travelling Bricks ticket price.
Visitors can also choose a Supporter Ticket when booking. A small additional donation helps Peterborough Cathedral care for its historic building, support community programmes and continue its charitable work.
UK taxpayers can further increase their support through Gift Aid, allowing the Cathedral to claim an additional 25% from the Government at no extra cost. All proceeds support the ongoing upkeep and mission of Peterborough Cathedral. A chapel for private prayer and candle lighting remains freely available throughout the exhibition.
