Stagecoach, the parent of Cambridgeshire’s biggest local bus operator, Stagecoach East, has supported an organisation, in Peterborough, as part of a scheme that has seen it distribute community grants to organisations across the UK. Each of the organisations has received a £500 grant to support their valuable local work.
Locally, Stagecoach has backed Families First Peterborough CIC, who work with school-aged children and their families in Cambridgeshire who may have experienced trauma, social exclusion, and financial hardship. They support families and young people, including some of the most disadvantaged children, with indirect benefits for schools and communities.
The Neighbourly Grant is intended to strengthen their Panoramic Model, a holistic approach to supporting children and young people who have Down’s Syndrome.
Darren Roe, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, said: “We are so proud to support organisations that are making a real, tangible difference to people’s lives. Giving back to the communities we serve is at the heart of what we do, and it is inspiring to see the incredible work that is being done by Families First Peterborough CIC.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this grant, and continuing to support local causes which align with our mission to create more inclusive and sustainable communities.”
Cherry Lester, Director and Manager of Families First Peterborough CIC, added: “We were so pleased to have received a Stagecoach Grant. We will use this funding to put towards music workshops in our monthly youth club for young people who have Down’s Syndrome. They have just come up with a name for the project, Down Right Friday!”
