Katy Davies

Non Executive Director
Managing Director of St Ives based Cap Air Systems

As the Managing Director of CapAir Systems, an SME manufacturer of PCBs, cable assemblies and box builder, Katy brings over 20 years of experience in turnaround, transformation, leadership, manufacturing and finance. She has an MA in History from the University of Cambridge, and started her career at Deloitte, where she worked for nine years as a manager providing audit, tax and advice to owner managed businesses of all sizes and across various sectors.

Katy then joined Marshall, a leading aerospace and defence company, where she held senior leadership roles in finance before moving into operations transformation to deliver significant cost savings, process improvements, and operational excellence through empowering teams.

She then served as the Managing Director of CamdenBoss, a manufacturer of electronic components and enclosures, where she led the turnaround, growth and diversification of the business – predominantly during the pandemic! This involved a full restructure, full refresh of the company’s strategy, establishment of an inclusive people culture, post acquisition integration, relocation of two businesses into one significantly larger site and investment in sustainable tech.

Katy most recently spent 8 months supporting a socially-innovative independent training provider, Evolve Your Future, helping with their turnaround and transformation strategy. This gave her a fascinating insight into the world of skills funding and policy – something which has been close to her heart from the other side of the fence as an employer.

Katy is currently a member of the CPCA (Cambridge & Peterborough Combined Authority) Business Board, and is pleased to use her learning from the skills sector by now serving as a Business Board representative on the Skills & Employment Committee. She is also Chair of the Eastern Regional Productivity Forum, a board member of New Anglia LEP and Deputy Chair of NAAME, where she contributes to regional and national economic development and policy making. Katy has multiple skills in accounting, managerial finance, and financial planning, and is passionate about maximising the potential of people, lean principles, innovation, and sustainability.

She is driven by the mission of helping businesses achieve their full potential and create positive social and environmental impact. Katy values collaboration, diversity, and learning, and seeks to bring diverse perspectives and experiences to any team.
