Black Talent and Leadership in STEM Programme welcomes Arm as first consortium member

January 24, 2024

We are pleased to announce that semiconductor IP leader Arm has joined the Black Talent and Leadership Programme as the first Consortium member of the ‘Be the Change’ initiative which addresses the underrepresentation of Black talent in STEM.

The Black Talent and Leadership in STEM Programme provides businesses with opportunities to learn from industry peers, as well as practical tools and templates for attracting, retaining and promoting Black talent in STEM. As part of the programme, a new open access learning platform has been created for young Black talent seeking to develop their deep tech skills and explore career opportunities. The learning platform includes a wide range of practical courses from across the tech sphere, all of which are self-paced, as well as guidance on accessing new roles within the sector.

Olu Orugboh, Programme Director, said: “In addition to Arm joining our Programme, we are pleased to announce that the Arm Education team has made its industry-relevant educational online courses available to participants of the Black Talent and Leadership in STEM Programme via our new open access learning platform. These courses, ranging from embedded systems to providing skills to build IoT applications and Machine Learning at the edge, offer an unparalleled resource for young Black talent seeking to develop their skills and knowledge and progress their careers.”

“Diversity is critical to building the next generation of semiconductor talent and we are proud to have joined this important programme,” said Khaled Benkrid, Senior Director, Education and Research at Arm. “Our online courses have been designed to make the industry accessible to a broad range of individuals and we hope to empower a new generation of engineers to meet the growing talent demands of the technology industry.”

The Black Talent and Leadership programme is a cross-industry initiative delivered in collaboration with Cambridge Wireless, Homerton Changemakers, University of Cambridge, 10,000 Interns Foundation and Synergy Solutions.  To find out more visit: www.blacktalentleadership.com
