In October 2021, a brand new, fully online course will be added to the Cambridge Regional College suite of online courses.

The TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Environmental Sustainability (RQF) course is aimed at adult learners seeking to improve their understanding and awareness of environmental sustainability, which will be covered through six key areas of learning; Principles of sustainable development, Principles of sustainable communities, Principles of sustainable energy management, Social responsibility of businesses in relation to sustainability, Principles of waste management and Principles of sustainable transport with the option of a seventh unit looking at Principles of Sustainability in the individuals setting.

Claire Dolan said: “We are excited to launch this new course. Green skills is something that is high on our development agenda and to this end, we are also looking to introduce Electronic Vehicle and Air Source Heat Pump training in our energy centre later this year – this will be the start of an expanding course provision to support environmental sustainability.”

There is a strong focus on Climate Change globally as the environment faces every-growing challenges. Cambridge Regional College is committed to Climate Action Change and has recently joined more than 150 UK Colleges in signing the Association of Colleges Green College Commitment to make Climate Education compulsory on all courses.

In addition, Cambridge Regional College is aiming to become a Net Zero College, a target that is being driven by the college Environmental Sustainability Strategy and a newly formed College Environment and Sustainability Group is working to plan and implement actions to move towards this strategic goal. We believe that everyone has the power to make a difference to create a more sustainable future and the introduction of these latest courses demonstrates the commitment of the college in encouraging the wider community to take positive steps moving forward.
