Jazzercise instructors paying for day of care and support from EACH across Cambridgeshire

April 14, 2020

Care and support provided by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) across Cambridgeshire and West Essex will (Friday10 aPRIL) be funded by Tina Chasse and Dana Rowe, who have given the charity thousands of pounds after hosting a special event in St Ives to celebrate 50 years of Jazzercise.

Over 180 people enjoyed a special mix of cardio, dance and strengthening activities at Burgess Hall in January, with the fitness extravaganza raising £8,552 after costs.

The same event has been running for years now, generating money for various causes including £6,000 for EACH all the way back in 1990.

Fundraising activities such as these are now unable to run due to the COVID-19 outbreak and, with EACH also closing its 43 shops across the region, the charity’s loss of income over 12 weeks alone is expected to be around £1,800,000.

Bronte Graver, EACH Cambridgeshire Community Fundraiser, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Tina and Dana for their efforts, and for choosing EACH to benefit from the special 50th anniversary session. I went along to the event and it was really fantastic fun for all involved.

“Unfortunately, fundraising events like this simply can’t take place at the moment and the resulting financial forecasts are extremely concerning. The government’s recent announcement of additional support for all UK hospices is fantastic news and we’re waiting to hear what level of funding will be allocated to EACH. Regardless, we’ll need continued public support and are encouraging people to get creative with their at-home fundraising. There are lots of ideas on our website, whilst my fundraising colleagues and I are working hard at home to offer support where we can. Please get in touch!”

EACH cares for 135 children and young people, and provides wellbeing support for 96 family members, from its hospice in Milton, as well as hundreds more from its hospices in Suffolk and Norfolk. Donate now at www.justgiving.com/campaign/each-covid19.
