Stamford Santa Fun Run 2023. An invitation to join the Team

July 14, 2023

The Stamford Santa Fun Run is being held on Sunday 10th December in the grounds of Burghley
House and we are expecting another sell out crowd of 1500 runners. Dressed in Santa suits, our
runners, of all ages and abilities, can choose between a 1, 2, or 3 mile route around the
picturesque park. There will be entertainment onstage as they warm up beforehand, and mince
pies and mulled wine afterwards in the marquee. We’re hoping they have a great time as they
experience the largest Santa Fun Run in the region, which draws people in from Stamford,
Oakham and Peterborough.

Just as important as a fun, festive, and ‘slightly eccentric’ run in the park, we hope to raise
important funds for our supported charities. This year we are splitting all of our proceeds between
three:

1 Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall, who provide the only specialist palliative care for patients with life
limiting conditions in Peterborough. Supporting people through the most difficult time of their
lives, the Sue Ryder staff at Thorpe Hall provide both inpatient and Hospice at Home services.

2 Mindspace, Stamford. Founded by Dr Dan Petrie, the drop-in cafe in Stamford exists to
offer a safe place to talk, or listen. Free activities run every weekday, thanks to vital fundraising,
which aims to improve the mental wellbeing of the Community.

3 Stamford Burghley Rotary Club share funds to smaller local groups, where a small
donation makes a large difference. Recently supported schemes include Birch Tree Cafe, Brown’s
Hospital, Truesdale’s Almshouses, and Sailability.
