How Can Rapid Prototyping Impact Sustainability?
Creating new products with improved sustainability across all scopes is a key challenge within Future Devices. Technical and consumer-driven targets are ever higher, but there is now a determination for manufactures and designers to deliver innovative products with reduced impact on the environment. This can be within the various stages including design, production, useable lifetime or end-of-life, including reuse or recycling. Encompassing all of these factors is the issue of timescales – speed through the R&D process should have a positive impact on the overall climate cost of new, more sustainable products.
With this in mind, we are aiming to explore new innovations in rapid research methods, from digital prototyping to the use of 3D printing for testing ideas in real-world environments. We will hope to explore aspects ranging from ideation to regulation with a broad range of invited speakers.
