Informal Networking Evening – Ely
Our monthly networking series with Ely Cathedral Business Group continues at Ely’s Poets House, Ely.
Attracting businesses of all sizes from a wide range of industry sectors, these events are very popular.
Your company doesn’t need to be a member of the Chamber, or Ely Cathedral Business Group, to take advantage of this great opportunity to make new business connections – anyone is welcome to join us. Get together, get thinking, and get talking about things that matter.
Take this chance to catch up with familiar acquaintances you haven’t seen in ages, mingle with new business contacts and share knowledge and skills with like-minded professionals.
Chamber staff will be attending so if your company is considering joining the Chamber, it is a great opportunity to ask about the benefits of membership and discover what you can expect to gain from joining our Chamber network.
Guest speaker – East Cambs District Council
As a district, East Cambridgeshire has experienced rapid growth and its business sector is keeping pace with this trend. The District Council is committed to partnering with other support organisations to provide comprehensive assistance to all types of businesses across the district. Through a dedicated Economic Development team, the approach aims to support not only the commercial success of the East Cambridgeshire economy, but also its social and environmental goals.
Working in close collaboration with partners, stakeholders and other council departments the Economic Development team is committed to delivering five strategic interventions.
- Business growth
- Connectivity
- Place
- Climate
- People and skills
In continuing to successfully deliver this strategy, the Economic Development team is developing the approach to business and the service offer. Integral to this this is an open dialogue with business partners and this event is an opportunity to set out what will be a new approach to business support going forward.
The Economic Development Team is led by Martin Smith Economic Development Manager, who has been at the forefront of the Councils economic development and business engagement programme since 2015.
In addition to the team are Economic Development Officers, Nick Lancaster and Kieran Carr.
Since joining in 2020 Nick has won over £6M+ in funding bids and helped deliver £20M+ in grants to support local businesses. He also project manages key Economic Development programmes and is the lead for Business Intelligence.
With over 8 years’ experience of supporting businesses and community organisations through European funding as well as 10 years developing and delivering employment support programmes, Kieran joined the team in September 2023.
This will be an opportunity to hear from Martin, Nick and Kieran and discuss the opportunities available working with the team.
