Innovation loves a crisis – pivoting your people!
Of course, the Government want to get people who are currently working at home to go back to the City Offices – they want to get the economy moving – but backward thinking isn’t going to work as many people have had a taste of what it’s like to ditch that awful commute. Convincing that brain that’s kept you safe since birth (and which up until 23 March thought the commute was safe) that public transport is safe enough right now, is a tough call.
So, those businesses who lived off the back of the commute, relied on hospitality, retail or other traditional sectors are beginning to pivot. One common reason to pivot a business is difficulty generating sustainable revenue and crisis invariably leads to innovation. Ruth Gawthorpe, Chief Executive of the Smart Working Revolution, shares case studies and stories about how her Clients have pivoted their business and are now pivoting their workforce too!
Melanie Coeshott from Blue Diamond has recently conducted a number of interviews with leaders as part of her Post Lockdown Leadership Review. She shares key findings in terms of further changes anticipated in working practices, how to lead others through the changes and important skills to help us through this period.
