How do we tackle construction skills shortages while creating meaningful opportunities for local people?
At this Construction & Property Breakfast, Inspire Education Group will demonstrate how their Recruit. Train. Grow. approach is helping employers build the workforce they need.
James Whybrow, Vice Principal of Apprenticeships and Higher Education, will introduce the Recruit element of the strategy, exploring how businesses can attract new talent through closer collaboration with education providers, apprenticeships and work-based learning.
He will then be joined by Gary McPartland, Assistant Principal, and Emma Hill, Group Head of Curriculum – Modern Construction, who will present a real-world case study of Recruit. Train. Grow. in action.
Together, they will share the success of the Construction Internship Preparation Programme (CIPP), delivered in partnership with the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) and Morgan Sindall Construction. The programme brought together education, local government and industry to support women into careers in construction through practical skills development, employer engagement and paid work placements.
The session will explore how partnership-led approaches can address skills shortages, widen participation in the construction sector and create sustainable talent pipelines that benefit both employers and local communities.
