St Marys Church renovation

A six-figure restoration has been completed at St Mary’s Church, Bluntisham-Cum-Earith and owes largely to the generosity of local construction specialists, the Mick George Group, who donated more than two-thirds of the project funds.
The roots of this attractive building date back to the 13th Century and as such has in recent times started showing signs of age both physically and aesthetically. Subsequently, an extensive renovation programme has been underway, with the most recent focus on reconstructing the main floor throughout the Church, while at the same time replacing the existing Pews with new chaired-seating.
This Grade I Listed building is situated on the edge of the fens, serving residents from both villages, all of whom will benefit from the recent upgrades. Visitors will no longer need to experience the worm-ridden and rotting surroundings, and instead, will be greeted with a much more vibrant and welcoming environment.
Other improvements at the venue include additional toilets and kitchen facilities at the rear of the Church, with plans now being formulated to advance the structural condition of the bell tower.
A formal celebration service to present the recent enhancements are scheduled for 29 March, with a potential concert in early summer also being earmarked.
