Our role as a leading business network is to play a critical part of the support companies of all sizes need, especially around the recovery from lockdown and all the changes following the UKs departure from the EU with international trade.

We are one of 53 accredited British Chambers of Commerce and you will be working alongside an outstanding team which covers the whole Cambridgeshire region.

The Chamber is making substantial investments in an exciting new member focussed strategy. The successful candidate will therefore be an important pace setter when it comes to fulfilling our business development plans and leading our membership team. As a member of the Chambers Senior Management Team you will be expected to contribute to the development of the strategic plan of the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and support its delivery.

We are at a critical point having left the EU and beginning to emerge from the Pandemic and it is essential that we support our business membership as they return to the workplace and build back better.

The successful candidate will be able to create a strategic plan to cover all aspects of membership, this will include development of the membership offer to create a value proposition to enhance our recruitment and retention activity. Mentoring and supporting the membership team, delegating sales activity for all but the highest level of membership recruitment activity. Working with colleagues in the Chamber to ensure event activity and social media activity fits within, and supports, the strategic plan.

You will be operating from our Oakington office and report directly to the Chief Executive. There will not be an immediate requirement to attend the office every day, and working remotely can be considered. Attendance at evening events will be required.

Duties Include:
The role will cover all aspects of membership recruitment and sales development across the Cambridgeshire region.

  • Creating and implementing the strategic plan for membership, recruitment, retention and income generation
  • Member of the Senior Management Team
  • Leading and developing the membership team
  • Setting departmental and team objectives
  • Selling membership across our territory by re-designing the membership offer and achieving targets
  • Collaboration with colleagues, including Head of Marketing and Events, to ensure the strategic plan for membership can be delivered
  • Utilise the Chambers’ resources and apply their wide experience to deliver target membership growth and income targets from benefits to members
  • Carrying out members satisfaction surveys
  • Building the value proposition of membership using the Chamber LinkedIn, Twitter and other social media platforms
  • Attending events and other networking forums to engage with prospective and existing Chamber members
  • Respond to incoming enquiries from prospective members, provide information on benefits of membership and follow up as appropriate.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Team leader with a proven track record of managing and motivating a team in a business to business environment
  • Line management experience including setting objectives and managing the performance and development of the team
  • Previous experience of creating and implementing a strategic plan
  • Previous experience of designing a membership package would be a distinct advantage
  • Able to communicate with people on all levels
  • Full UK driving licence and suitable car insured for business use
  • Evidence of stated experience and qualifications will be required at interview stage
  • Ability to have a flexible approach to working as some events are out of normal working hours.
