LSIP and LSIF at Cambs B2B

November 30, 2023

On Wednesday 22nd November, Cambs Chamber hosted the regions largest B2B exhibition of the year. The exhibition welcomed almost 100 exhibitors and over 700 attendees throughout the day.

The Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) team proudly represented the work of the LSIP at Cambs B2B. With hundreds of business people in the room at any time, we had some fantastic engagement in the project. We gathered data on how employers understand skills needs, and what barriers they face when engaging in education and training provision.

67% of employers said that the cost of education/training courses is too high.

83% of employers say they understand the potential benefits for their business in emerging with activities such as work experience or careers events.

LSIF Advice Room

Our LSIP team linked up with local education providers, Long Road Sixth Form College and West Suffolk College supported by North Cambridgeshire Training Centre to showcase the work they are carrying out as part of the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF)

The LSIF is £2.5m funding for across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, to enable collaborations of FE colleges and training providers to meet the employer skills needs identified in the LSIP.

The LSIF follow the approval of our LSIP and will bring business and education closer together. Stay tuned as we will showcase how the providers are using the funding.

They showcased the exciting developments in VR technology for technical and employability skills within an education environment.
