In the run up to Father’s Day this weekend, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire bus operator, Stagecoach East, has highlighted the work done by a Father and Son to keep the wheels turning for local buses.
Nathan Patrick, now Engineering Manager, joined Stagecoach in 2018, when his Dad, Nick, was already a Shift Fitter, and they have worked together ever since, although Nick has now become a Day Fitter.
Nathan said: “It was exciting to have the opportunity to work with my Dad, back in 2018. I was fresh out of my apprenticeship at a truck dealership before joining Stagecoach. It was good to have that extra support and familiarity when joining a new company.”
And the strong relationship has continued down the years: “I am extremely proud to work together with my Dad in all our various roles throughout the years. We’re very similar in that we are always keen to learn and want to do a good job.
“I’ve always looked up to my Dad throughout his career in the bus industry. I admire his hard work and how highly he is respected amongst his peers. It means a lot to be able to work alongside him and carry on his hard work throughout my career now. I want to do a good job and make him and my Mum proud.
“Stagecoach has always had lots of family links between all departments and roles. I think it talks to the values of the company that not only do we have a ‘family’ environment, but families, generation after generation, choose to work at East.”
