With the announcement that local children, under 16, will be able to travel by bus for free throughout August, Stagecoach Easy, has suggested places in and around Cambridgeshire to enjoy a great ‘Stagecation’ – to visit and enjoy the best that the region has to offer.
More people will be holidaying at home, this year, the local bus operator hopes that people will turn their ‘staycation’ into a ‘Stagecation’ and take advantage of the government’s Kids Go Free scheme, which will make it even more affordable to get around. Now Stagecoach has given a range of suggestions for a wonderful and easy-to-reach day out:
— Flag Fen Archaeology Park – Explore one of Britain’s most important Bronze Age archaeological sites and learn about prehistoric life.4
— Wimpole Estate (National Trust) – Grand mansion, extensive parkland, gardens, farm, and woodland walks; Service 26
— Anglesey Abbey & Gardens (National Trust) – Jacobean house with beautiful seasonal gardens and Lode Mill; Service 11, 16
— St Ives – Charming market town with the famous bridge chapel, river views, and museums; Busway Route A, B
— Huntingdon – Historic market town linked to Oliver Cromwell, with good riverside walks and town centre; Busway B
— Burwell – Attractive Fen village with museum, Devil’s Dyke, and access to local walks; Service 11
— Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve (National Trust) – Ancient wetland with boardwalks, rare wildlife, and atmospheric fen landscapes; Service 11
