More than 15,000 people have now visited Travelling Bricks at Peterborough Cathedral, with visitor numbers continuing to rise daily. The globally touring exhibition, featuring more than one million LEGO® bricks, has proved a major draw for families, brick enthusiasts and day-trippers alike.
The exhibition is also helping to bring new audiences into the city, encouraging visitors from further afield to discover Peterborough Cathedral and experience more of what Peterborough has to offer. The increased footfall is being felt across the city centre, with local businesses benefiting from visitors spending time in Peterborough before and after their trip to the Cathedral. Travelling Bricks is helping to generate additional activity for businesses across the city, demonstrating the wider economic and cultural value that major exhibitions can bring to Peterborough.
With temperatures set to rise this week, there is another reason to make a visit: Peterborough Cathedral is one of the coolest places in the city, quite literally. With its soaring ceilings, generous spaces and excellent natural air circulation, the Cathedral offers a naturally cool setting in which to enjoy Travelling Bricks away from the summer heat.
There’s even more to enjoy this weekend, with the Summer Artisan Market taking place at Peterborough Cathedral on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th August. Visitors to Travelling Bricks can enjoy the market as part of their exhibition ticket, while those wishing to visit the market alone can enter with a donation.
And for dinosaur fans, the Natural History Museum’s Titanosaur remains in situ at the Cathedral, giving visitors the chance to see the spectacular 37-metre-long dinosaur alongside Travelling Bricks. Together, the exhibition, Titanosaur and the Summer Artisan Market offer visitors plenty of reasons to make a trip to Peterborough Cathedral.
